First steps

Wife of mine dragged me into the SCA.
In the midrealm she had been a scribe, and continued this after she moved to Drachenwald. Many times I watched her sit and work on the most amazing pieces of art. Eventually I decided that I too should give it a go.

I started with a simple Gothic Blackletter, which to my amazement wasn't too bad. Nowhere near good, mind you. Just... Not bad. After I'd posted a few of my practice sheets on my facebook a number of scribe friends of wife-of-mine mentioned that they thought it actually was fairly good, considering that at that point I had only effectively been practicing the hand an hour or two.

At the time wife was also running the Drachenwald part of an Interkingdom Scribal Exchange. Scribes from each kingdom would make a few calligraphy and a few illuminated blanks, send them to another kingdom to be completed, and then sent to their final kingdom to be handed out as official awards.
When two of the Drachenwald scribes could not complete their works, wife found herself needing to do an additional 3 scrolls for the exchange. Having a few assignments to complete from her own signet she turned to me asking if I could please callig one of the exchange blanks. Although I felt I was not good enough I conceded, which led to the following work...

This was my first ever scroll. Although it, and the other pieces for the exchange were sent off (I believe to Atlantia or Caid), I have no idea wether or not it was ever completed and/or actually handed out.
